Cutting: Garden Ants

• Black construction paper

• Green construction paper

• Wiggly eyes

The Activity:

Children cut out fries from sponges and then use tweezers to count out the correct number of fries.

 

Goals:

This is a simple cutting activity to practice straight lines and circles. It also combines counting skills.

Cutting Skills: Flower Garden

The Activity:

Children write their name, cut a stem and flower to create a flower garden.

 

Goals:

This activity combines several skills. Children practice cutting straight lines as well as circles. They also work on writing the letters of their name.

Cutting Skills: Cut and Race

The Activity:

Children pick one color that they want. They cut strips of paper and then pick them up as part of a race with the suction of a straw and place it in their bowls.

 

Goals:

The goal of this activity if to work on simple cutting skills. It then combines visual perceptual skills while looking fro your own color as fast as possible.

Cutting Skills: Baby Shark

Handwriting: Underwater Letter Search

The Activity:

Children use their magnetic wand to pick out letters from a container of soapy water. They then practice writing the letter on the laminated letters worksheet.

 

Goals:

This activity works on using senses other than visual to look for letters. It works on identifying the letters, sounding out starting sounds and practicing letter formation.

Handwriting: Search and Rescue Letters

Handwriting: Sand Letters

The Activity:

Let’s go to the sea and play with the sand! Draw your letters in the sand by copying one of the letters on the cards. Children can use their fingers or a dry paintbrush.

 

Goals:

Using sand is a wonderful sensory medium to practice writing our letters. Writing on mediums other than pencil and paper is an effective way to learn how to write letters and numbers for children of all ages.

Handwriting: Salt Letters

Handwriting: Pirate Telescope Letters

Handwriting: My Home Primary Strokes

The Activity:

Pick a number card, identify it on the sheet and draw the primary stroke associated with that number.
