Learning Corner: Mystery Letter Jump

You will need:

• Paper towels cut into long strips

• Sharpies

• Letter cards

• A bowl of water

  

The Activity:

Children reveal a letter on the paper towel and jump to that letter on the floor. They name the letter and find a word that starts with that letter.

 

Goals:

This activity improves bilateral coordination skills as well as letter recognition.

Are you ready to learn?

What you need to do:

To prepare for this activity:
Step 1: Prepare a bowl of water and set aside
Step 2: Cut a paper towel into 3 strips and write a letter at the bottom of each strip, then fold the paper towel to cover that letter.
Step 3: Write the SAME letters on separate cards
Step 4: Place letters around the house (you can write letters on paper cards or spread out magnetic letters if you have them)


You are now ready to start!

To complete this activity:
Step 1: Take one paper towel letter and drop it in the water to reveal the letter.
Step 2: Name the letter, and jump to it when you find it on the floor.
