Fine Motor: Spring Words

You will need:

• Magnetic wand
• Magnet bingo chips. Using a Sharpie have a parent write the letter of S-U-N, F-L-O-W-E-R and B-I-R-D on the coins. ie. one letter per coin
• Spring PDF print out

The Activity:

Let's build spring words by using our magnetic wands! In this activity, children are asked to scatter their letter coins and retrieve them by using their magnetic wand. Then, they will place the counters on the paper to build the spring words.

Goals:

This activity aims at finding and matching upper case letters therefore helping letter recognition.

Are you ready to learn?

What you need to do:

Step 1: Scatter the letter coins around the room
Step 2: Find a letter coin, pick it up with your magnetic wand
Step 3: Pick the small coin from the wand using a neat pincer grasp (ie. the thumb and index finger)
Step 4: Place the letter coin on the matching letter on your paper
