Fine Motor: Beading Flowers

You will need:

The Activity:

Let's practice counting by beading a flower! In this activity, our child will learn how to string beads onto a pipe cleaner and improve their counting skills. This video will teach your child how to properly string beads with their little fingers.

Goals:

Beading is a fun way to work on improving fine motor skills (pincer grasp), eye-hand coordination, and bilateral coordination. Children will learn to use their thumb and index finger when beading.

Are you ready to learn?

What you need to do:

Step 1: Gather all materials
Step 2: Print out PDF
Step 3: Prepare the activity in advance. Use scissor to cut out the PDF flowers. Then, use piece of tape to stick together the flower and piper cleaner.
Step 4: Once step 3 is completed, have your child pick up one flower and name the number on the flower

Step 5: String beads on the pipe cleaner corresponding with the number
Step 6: Pick another flower and see how many they can complete
Step 7: Add a sticker or checkmark to their reward chart once the activity is completed
